Small Business Printers that Maxify Your BusinessCanon launched a line of printers this fall targeted toward small business owners that have higher volume printing needs than a desktop inkjet printer but lower than a laser printer. Canon’s ad agency XXXX developed the brand strategy and tone and then several agencies were set loose on various projects. JDA was asked to design and develop the full-line product brochure, individual vertical market brochures, a specification sheet for each product and various point-of-purchase materials.
With the full-line brochure we were able to add design details that helped positioned the brand. The front cover was die cut and played off of the “Yours To Make” tagline with various ideals important to small business owners such as “Your Vision”, “Your Passion” and “Your Drive”. We collaborated with Color graphics to come up with a subtle printing technique that was applied to the printers and lifestyle images. Silver ink was used to give a richness and slight shimmer to all of the photography. Spot varnish was applied to all photos for an additional pop. Perhaps our favorite design detail is the use of red saddle stitch staples which add a hint of color that compliments the Canon red throughout the brochure. How Infographics can Engage the ReaderFirst of all I want to give credit for the content of video infographic we created to Tessa Wegert who wrote the article “Why Brands Need Video”. I read this article with much interest since many of our clients are coming to us for video content. It struck me as I was reading that the statistics were dry as presented. I challenged our designers to come up with an infographic that tells the story in a more engaging manner. Stephanie Han took up the challenge and created this infographic. Government topics also tend to be on the dry side. Toshiba Telecomm came to us in need of developing content for the government E-Rate Program for Federal communications funding for schools and libraries. They didn’t want their dealers to miss out on these potentially lucrative contracts. We developed an infographic that provided relevant funding statistics, important links and steps on how to bid in these types of programs. The program was well received by the dealer base. In addition to the infographic we developed a SYNQY that dealers could place on their own web site that let potential customers (IT specialists in the education market) know they are a dealer offers the reduced rates to assist schools. |
